NU NU NU CHAPTER HISTORY

After years of working remotely as an independent contractor on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, in 2012 Gamma Epsilon Spring 1992 had their 20 year line anniversary in the Dominican Republic. Brother Victor Little GE 1985 from Brooklyn, NY and Brother Ronald (AC) Brandon GE 1984 from Atlantic City, NJ were in attendance and discussed with Carlton Weddington GE 1992 the idea of expansion of the fraternity into the Dominican Republic and Haiti. The three also discussed the idea with other brothers living in the Dominican Republic and others who work remotely in the Dominican Republic for extended periods of time. The following year while working remotely in the Dominican Republic Brother Brandon also discussed forming a new chapter with Brothers Derrick Gardner GE 1986 and Brother Robert Patterson GE 1986. A plan was formed and launched.

The Brothers Little, Brandon, Weddington, Gardner and Patterson agreed to form a loose coalition and to do extensive fact finding on the parameters of chartering a new chapter. For 8 years most of the group meet quarterly in the Dominican Republic discussing the idea and the costs associated with purchasing a fraternity house and identifying community service partners in the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

February 2020 the Covid 19 (Coronavirus) pandemic became a world wide issue. The coalition of Little, Brandon, Weddington, Gardner and Patterson solidified their research and added other like minded brothers to their efforts. Brothers Mike Brown, Sean Dawson, Brian Weeks, Josh Mangana and Jerry Armstrong were added to the “think tank.”

Also added was Brother Edward Poindexter, a health care expert from the medical field. Brother F. Tarkin Jones GE 1995 assisted the groups efforts in an administrative advisory capacity. The initial group grew to include 27 financial brothers actively pursuing community service in the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
